Chandogya Upanishad is one of the oldest Upanishad written on the Vedic Brahmana period about ninth to eighth century BC. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. It is ranked ninth in the Muktika canon of hundred and eight Upanishadas. The 16th Khanda of Chapter Seven of Chandogya Upanishad sates about the knowledge of the truth. Narada had approached Sanatkumara to know about the real Self or the Supreme Brahman. After being instructed he was satisfied and remained silent. However, Sanatkumata, finding him to be a worthy pupil explained him further that one can be called an ativadi who can with true knowledge proclaim that he wishes to become an ativadi through truth. Thus, truth is worthy of enquiry. On hearing this Narada expressed his desire to become an ativadi by the knowledge of the Truth.
