15th Khanda of Chapter Eight

15th Khanda of Chapter Eight of Chandogya Upanishad states about the attainment of Brahmaloka or the world of Brahman.

15th Khanda of Chapter Eight, Chandogya UpanishadChandogya Upanishad, one of the oldest Upanishad has been written during the Vedic Brahmana period. Chandogya Upanishad is associated with Sama Veda. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 15th Khanda of Chapter Seven of Chandogya Upanishad states about the attainment of Brahmaloka. According to it Lord Brahma related the knowledge of the real Self to Prajapati (Kasyapa), it was then related by Prajapati to Manu and then from Manu to the mankind. It states that one achieve the world of Brahman after his death who has read the Vedas at the abode of a teacher, followed the rules prescribed in it, settled down and had lead a life of a householder after leaving the abode of the teacher, had still continued reading the Vedas in a sacred place, have imparted knowledge to his sons and disciples and made them virtuous, had control over his sense organs, has not caused pain to any living creature and has conducted all his actions that had been approved by the scriptures. Such a person becomes free and never returns back.
