Vaibhavi Merchant is regarded as one of the best choreographers in Bollywood film industry who has been able to make her own mark in spite of getting tough competition from her fellow counterpart Farah Khan and Saroj Khan. She has been a judge in a dance reality show, "Nach Baliye 3".
Vaibhavi Merchant was born on 1976. She is the granddaughter of Hiralal Merchant who was a famous choreographer in his times. She is also the niece of Chinni Prakash who is also a well-known choreographer.
Vaibhavi shot into fame with the song "Kajra Re" from 'Bunty aur Babli' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. She got the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Award for the song. She also choreographed for other the movies like 'Dhoom' and 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.' With her first film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', she won the National Award for the song "Dholi Taro Dhol Baje" shoots on Salman Khan and Aishwariya Rai. Vaibhavi Merchant has also choreographed for Madhuri Dixitfor her latest movie, 'Aaja Nachle'. She has worked for Yash Raj Films' "Tashan" and Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini.' She has also choreographed the Australian musical "The Merchants of Bollywood" which was a musical written by Toby Gough about her family.
Apart from being involved in cinema, Vaibhavi Merchant has also been involved in stages as well. She has done choreography for over 100 films. Some of her significant contributions in Hindi cinema include, 'No Entry', 'Neal n' Nikki', 'Madhoshi', 'Lagaan', 'Veer Zaara', 'Chehraa' and so on. Her showbiz career has been always on the rise and with her excellent work in Hindi cinema she has immensely contributed in the enhancement of dance sequences and techniques for the viewers to get an enthralling experience.
