The dusky Bengali beauty Kamalika Guhathakurta has carved a special niche for herself in the hearts of the small screen audiences with the character portrayal of Gayatri 'chachi' in the very popular Balaji show 'Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. This extremely talented actress hails from the 'City of Joy' Kolkata and used to indulge in a lot of dancing and also grabbed some opportunities to do theater. For a considerable span of time she also worked as a copywriter in a reputed ad agency.
After a short span she landed in Mumbai for some work and it is during this time she was introduced to Raja Bundela and Satish Kaushik. She fitted the criterion of the talented duo to portray the central role of Divya in the hugely hit Zee TV show 'Mujhe Chand Chahiye'. She claims that it was one of the most memorable shows of her life and by the end of the show she was also married to the man of her life Rajnish whom she met during her work in the ad agency.
Soon after the success of her show 'Mujhey Chand Chahiye' Kamalika Guhathakurta joined the workshop of Satyadev Dubey and continuously tried to work on her Hindi. It was at this time that the 'soap queen' Ekta Kapoor sent some of EPs to spot some talented actors from the group who were recommended by Dubey himself. From there Kamalika was picked up for a show called 'Kashti' and while she was working in 'Kashti' she also bagged the plum role in the most popular Balaji entertainer, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Kamalika Guhathakurta has also done another Balaji soap called 'Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat' in which she plays a 28-year old girl and is a tarot-card reader by profession. Her role also dealt with nullifying the powers of the vamp played by Urvashi Dholakia. She has also meted out brilliant performances in 'Kamal', 'Manzilein' and 'Babuji'. An actress with such potential and flair for acting surely has a lot more in her kitty to delight the audiences.
