Lakshmi Priya,  Indian DancerOn 8th November in the year 1983, Lakshmi Priya was born in Chennai to a middle class parent. From her childhood, Lakshmi Priya possessed a natural aspiration for dance. Following the guidance of her Mentor & Guru Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan, she has been inducted into the world of Bharathnatyam. At that time she was at her tender age of six. Lakshmi Priya has been going through a systematically demanding training in Bhrathanatyam, ever since her joining to Sri Devi Nrithyalaya. Under the able tutelage of guru. Smt. Sheela, she got her training. Within a short period of time with all her sincerity and dedication, she became an able and upraising Bharatanatyam dancer.

The Nrityalaya has conducted several programmes. Lakshmi Priya has participated in those programmes and over a great extent was appreciated. In her teacher`s ballets, she was given the lead roles and has also participated in other dance choreographies too. Lakshmi Priya has participated in "Bala Ramayanam" and "Sri Krishna Karnamrutham" and performed the respective roles `Vishwamithrar` and `Rukmini`. She also participated in other dancing companies` performances, To name a few, she has danced with Anusham group, Vaijayanthimala Bali`s group, Sri. Madurai R.Muralidharan`s group, Madhuranthi`s group.

Lakshmi Priya,  Indian Dancer Presently she is learning Kuchipudi, apart from Bharatantyam, under the able guidance of Guru Sri Kishore. By taking part in dance competitions, Lakshmi Priya has won several prizes and certificates of merits. Various institutions have conducted these competitions. The awards and honor won by her are:

In All-India level competition, she has won the II prizes in Bharatanatyam & Kuchipudi and in the State level competition, she won the I prize. In the year of 2000-2001, she was conferred the Privilege award of Padma Subramaniam Natya Award. This award ceremony was conducted by Nehru Children Association. Jawajar Bala Bhawan in the year 1999 - 2000 conducted the district and state level competitions and in those competition Lakshmi has won the first prize. She was conferred the prestigious title Natyakala Rathna by South Indian Cultural. In the year 2003, she has been conferred the Thaver Sanskriti Award by Rajasthan Association. She has also on the First prize in "Thaka Dhimi Tha". It was a TV show Conducted by Jaya TV. The programme was judged by Dr. Padma Subramaniam. Lakshmi has won first prizes in other inter school and inter collegiate competitions too.

Lakshmi Priya has also given performances in other prestigious programmes too. International Dance Alliance Festival, 2003, Bharath Kalachar`s Yuva Utsav 2003, Oothukadu Dance Festival, 2003, Salangai Oli`s Aadikondar Dance Festival are some of the important ones.
