Wildlife in West India comprises more than 40 mammal species and nearly 450 bird species. Asiatic Lions, Blackbucks, Eels, Wolf, Wild Ass, Ridley Turtles, Desert Fox, Jackal, Nilgai, and Desert Cats are among the numerous animals found in the western region.

Some of the most significant and admired wildlife destinations in Western India are Gir National Park in Sasangir (Gujarat), Krishnagiri Upavan National Park (Maharashtra), Tadoba National Park (Maharashtra), Blackbuck (Velavadar) National Park (Gujarat), Marine National Park (Gujarat), Anerdam Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary, Bor Wildlife Sanctuary, Chaprala Wildlife Sanctuary, Chikhaladara Wildlife Sanctuary, Dajipur Bison Sanctuary, Gugamal National Park, Jayakwadi Bird Sanctuary, Jijamata Udyan Zoo, Karnala Bird Sanctuary, Katepurna Sanctuary, Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary, Malvan Marine Sanctuary, Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, Navegaon National Park, Nayagaon Mayur Sanctuary, Pench National Park, Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary, Narayan Sarovar Chinkara Sanctuary (Gujarat) and the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary in Goa. Gir National Park in the state of Gujarat is the only home of the world popular Asiatic lions. It houses a total of nearly 300 Asiatic lions. Moreover, Marine Wildlife Sanctuary is famous as the first Marine National Park of the country.

Marine Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Pirotan Island. It was declared a National Park in the year 1982. The park is known for its wealth of amphibians and other water animals like Sponges, Eels, Ridley Turtles, Shrimps, Dolphins, Green Sea and Urchin among others. On the other hand, Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary is the home to several rare Asiatic Wild Ass, Khur (Indian wild ass), Wolf, Houbara Bustard and Caracal. Interestingly, this wildlife sanctuary is also known as Wild Ass Sanctuary. Little Rann of Kutch Sanctuary also attracts innumerable migratory birds.

Thus, teeming with the natural beauty, the western region of the country supports a broad range of flora and fauna. This region is also the home to some of the most stunning wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. The wildlife sanctuaries of West India are among the most visited sanctuaries of the country.
