Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary
Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Ri-Bhoi district near Lailad village. It was notified in the year 1981 and is spread over an area of about 29 square kilometers. Wildlife Sanctuaries of MeghalayaThis reserve serves as a home to rare kinds of flora which are threatened by extinction. Other occupants of the park are mammals, reptiles, avian and rodents. Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary is an ideal place for bird watchers. Birds like brown hornbill, Manipur bush quail and rufous necked hornbill have been noticed in the sanctuary. March and April are considered to be the finest months to visit the sanctuary.

Baghmara Pitcher Plant Wildlife Sanctuary
Baghmara Pitcher Plant Wildlife Sanctuary was notified in the year 1984. It is spread over an area of about 0.02 square kilometers. Factors which have converted this place into a highly coveted tourist attraction are extraordinary architecture, innovative layouts and well-thought execution. As the name of the sanctuary may suggest, it serves as a home to several pitcher plants. Pitcher plants are carnivorous plants with modified leaves called pitfall traps. In the pitcher-shaped leaves, insects are trapped and digested by means of a fluid secreted by the leaves itself.
