Vijay Dahiya is a former Indian cricket player who used to play as a right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper. He began playing first-class cricket in 1993-94 for Delhi against Punjab at Ludhiana. Born on 10th May 1973 in Delhi, he marked his international debut in the arena of cricket during 2000-01 series against Zimbabwe. He was also a representative of the North Zone cricket team which bagged the Duleep and Deodhar Trophies during the 1999-00 season. He also worked as an assistant coach of the Kolkata-based franchise cricket team of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders, for which he was appointed in 2009.
Vijay Dahiya played his first One Day International against Kenya at Nairobi on 3 Oct 2000 in the ICC knockout trophy. India won that match and his contribution in it was a stumping and a catch. Subsequently he played in about 19 One Day Internationals (ODI) for India. The last match which he played was the 2001 series against Australia at Margao.
Vijay Dahiya`s highest score in any ODI was a knock of 51 off 39 deliveries against Australia in the first ODI at Bangalore that also helped the country to set up a match winning total of 315. His Test debut was in November 2000 against Zimbabwe at Nagpur which India drew. Following this, he played only one more Test match. In the domestic cricket, Vijay Dahiya played for Delhi till his retirement. His last match was against Uttar Pradesh in December 2006 after which he declared his retirement from all forms of cricket. Later he assumed the role of assistant coach for IPL.
