Victoria  Jubilee Museum ,  Vijayawada, Andhra PradeshThe business capital of Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada is also a tourist place mainly for its temples and the famous Victoria Jubilee Museum. The city is situated on the bank of the River Krishna.

In the year 1887, the Victoria Jubilee Museum was established depicting itself as an archaeological museum. Visitors are attracted here only because of the unique collection of art and artifacts.

The black granite statue of Lord Buddha draws the special attention. In addition to this, many bronze and stone sculptures are also viewed in the museum. Besides, there is the white limestone figure of Lord Buddha, which was brought to this museum from Alluru. The figure is several years old but it still has its striking beauty and glamorously reflects the artist`s creation.

Other than these, there is the age-old idol of Lord Shiva (4th & 5th century), which gives the proof of sculptural agility. There is also the admirable image of Mahishasura Mardini or the Goddess Durga.

In addition to this, the Victoria Jubilee Museum also houses pre historic tools, pottery, stone and copper plates, gold and silver coins, arms and armory, textiles and coins. Apart from this there are the rare stone cut manuscripts and writings.

People having interest in history can visit the Victoria Jubilee Museum in Vijayawada on all days from 10:30am to 5pm except on Fridays and public holidays. There is no entrance fee in the museum. However, there is an extra charge for carrying camera within the museum.
