Vedantam Prahlada Sarma was an expert Kuchipudi actor and dancer. He was the elder brother and teacher of Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma "Satyam". Born in Kuchipudi village, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, in 1923, Sarma received training from Vedantam Lakshminarayana Sastri and other family seniors. All of them had kept the tradition alive at Kuchipudi. He mastered both male and female roles and had a sound knowledge of music, all of which brought him acclaim at performances in India and abroad.
Vedantam Prahlada Sarma moved to Kalakshetram, the leading Kuchipudi centre in Eluru, where he taught disciples like Raja and Radha Reddy. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 1985. Vedantam Prahlada Sarma expired in the year 1991.
