Valavanur
Valavanur is a panchayat town situated in Viluppuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Angalamman Temple is one of the important pilgrimage centres here.

The main source of income for the people residing here is agriculture. Several sugarcane factories have been developed in the surrounding areas hence the town cultivates huge amount of sugarcanes. Many other factories have also been developed in Valavanur like the Sunfeast Biscuit factory, Rajshree Sugars and others.
Pilgrimage Places in Valavanur
Angalamman Temple is one of the main temples located in Valavanur. Devotees from nearby places visit the temple and give offerings at the feet of the Lord. Every year the temple celebrates the famous festival, Mayana pooja on a grand scale. The festival is celebrated for a week.
Valavanur is well connected with all modes of transport. The town is positioned on the national highway NH 45A that connects Villupuram to Nagapattinam through Puducherry. Valavanur is almost at a distance of 30 km from Puducherry. Tourists can avail the buses plying between Villupuram to Puducherry. These buses stop at the town. The nearest railway station is located at Valavanur on the Villupuram-Puducherry railway line. Daily Passenger trains are available here that also connect to big towns like Tirupati and Chennai. Another railway station is situated at Villupuram at a distance of almost 8 km.
