V. Ramamurthy

V. Ramamurthy, born in the year 1935, is a popular stage designer in the Kannada theatre circuit.

V. Ramamurthy is an eminent designer. He was born in Bengaluru in 1935. Ramamurthy worked in the amateur Kannada theatre from 1952, before studying direction and stage management at the National School of Drama. After graduation, he specialized in theatre technique at the University of Hawaii and the Institute of Theatre Technology, New York. While there, he designed sets and lights for several shows, some off-Broadway. On returning to India, he continued in the same vein, including acclaimed decor for B. V. Karanth`s productions. Ramamurthy has taught lighting and stage design as visiting lecturer at theatre departments in various Indian universities. He contributed appreciably toward artistic lighting in Indian theatre or Indian drama.
