Indian Institute of Technology
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is an autonomous university located in Mandi. It is the youngest Indian Institute of Technology in India, established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2009, under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011. The university conducts undergraduate programs in fields like computer science and engineering and civil engineering, postgraduate programs like M.S, M.Sc. and M.Tech and Ph.D. program in engineering and basic sciences.

National Institute of Technology
National Institute of Technology (NIT) is located in Hamirpur. It was set up in the year 1986. It is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology established, administered and funded by the Government of India. Himachal Pradesh University
Himachal Pradesh University is situated in Summer Hill, Shimla. It was established on 22nd of July, 1970, by an Act of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It is completely financed by the Government of Himachal Pradesh and the University Grants Commission (UGC). There are various colleges under Himachal Pradesh University like the Government College Chamba, Green Hills Engineering College and Vaishno College of Engineering.

Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry
Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry is located in Solan district. It was set up in the year 1985. It is the first university of its kind in Asia, with an exclusive mandate of education, research and extension in horticulture and forestry. It occupies an area of about 5.5 square kilometers.

CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalya
CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalya is an agricultural university at Palampur. It was established in November, 1978, as an expansion of the existing College of Agriculture, which was established in May, 1966. It has various colleges like College of Home Sciences, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, College of Agriculture and College of Basic Sciences.

Other Universities in Himachal Pradesh
Jaypee University of Information Technology is a private university in Waknaghat, Solan. Eternal University is the second private university of Himachal Pradesh, established by an Act of State Legislature. It functions on a "no profit-no loss" basis. Chitkara University is a private university in Barotiwala that focuses on undergraduate and postgraduate engineering and business management studies.
