The state of Tripura is located in the north eastern part of India. Its geographical terrain is characterized by hill ranges, valleys and plains and its climate is known to be tropical savanna climate. This state has palaces, temples, wildlife sanctuaries, hill station, rock-cut carvings, stone images, etc, which have contributed in making Tripura a tourist destination of India. Eco Parks of Tripura are no exception in this regard. They too provide support to tourism in this state.
Khumlwng Eco Park
Khumlwng Eco Park was created about 25 km away from Agartala, at Khumlwng, which is the head quarter of the Autonomous District Council (ADC). The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous Council is credited with the establishment of this eco park. This park was established in the year 1991. The word "Khumlwng" stands for a valley of blooming flowers. Justifying the meaning of the word, the park is occupied by several rare species of flowers. The park is also adorned with a water body and a very beautiful and spacious garden. Boating is a fun filled possibility on the water body for both the foreign and domestic tourists. Enhancing the tourism aspect of the park is a children"s park which is loaded with many funny objects.
A large number of picnickers are known to visit this park. Khumlwng Eco Park has developed into such a tourist spot, which is generating high revenue for the state. The local tribal people here have started focusing on the conservation of flora and fauna.
Tepania Eco Park
Tepania Eco Park is located inside the Radhakrishorepur Reserve Forest about 5 km from the city and from Agartala. It was established in the year 1995. This park is spread over an area of about 155 hectares. Enhancing the tourism aspect of the park are a few picnic spots, cottages, cafeteria, watchtower and wooden hanging bridge inside the park. The park is adorned with cactus and well maintained orchid, some of which have been brought from Coimbatore and Kalimpong. mahogany and saal are the other flora of Tepania Eco Park. Other inmates of the park are monkeys, red jungle fowl, birds and reptiles.
Baramura Eco Tourism Park
Baramura Eco Tourism Park is located in Teliamura in Baramura hills region, about 37 km from Agartala. A noteworthy aspect of the park is the bamboo based "hawa ghar". Small wooden bridges link parts of land. Enhancing the tourism aspect of the park are arrangements for picnics and children enclosure. Hut structured cottages adorn this park, along with surrounding sylvan green forest with a stream flowing through it.
