Tirukkozhambam Temple is also called Kokilapuram and is the 35th in the series of Tevara Stalams located south of the river Kaveri.
Legend: A scholar was cursed by Indra and was made into a cuckoo, prayed here for relief from his predicament, hence the name Kokilapuram. Legend also links it to the Tiruvaavaduturai temple. Parvati took the form of a cow and worshipped Shiva and as she proceeded towards Tiruvaavaduturai, worshipped Shiva here at Kozhambam.
Temple: The temple covers an area of two acres. Hoof marks of a cow are seen on the Shivalingam. The sanctum faces the east. Images of Bhikshandakar, Sattanathar and Natarajar adorn the niches of the sanctum. Other deities associated with the stories and legends of the temple are also found here. This temple is attributed to the pious Chola queen Sembiam Mahadevi.
