Sadhu Vaswani Ashram, PuneSadhu Vaswani Ashram is a well known charitable organization engaged in promoting various philanthropic activities like education, healthcare, social service, and feeding of the poor. The Ashram is also designed for those who aim to live a life of spiritual discipline. Sadhu Vaswani Mission was started by Sadhu T.L Vaswani in 1929, at Hyderabad (Sindh). The Ashram is located at Sadhu Vaswani Path of Pune in the Maharashtra state of India.

Sadhu T.L Vaswani
Sadhu Vaswani was born in Hyderabad on November 25, 1879. He was the man who started `Mira movement of Education in Sindh". When Vaswani completed his post graduation, he started working as a professor in the Metropolitan College in Calcutta. He was a patriotic man and took part in India"s independent movement. However, his primary interest was in spiritual life and soon he turned his attention to that side. He established the `Shakti Ashram` at Rajpur. Here young men from various parts of India were trained to take active participation in the free India Movement. Sadhu Vaswani held the view that future belonged to the youth and they need teaching for the discipline to take the tasks for the country.

The Sadhu Vaswani Ashram is a non-profit and ethereal institution that works for the betterment of destitute and needy, sick and aged without separating them by their caste, creed and colour. In the year 1931, the mission was taken in Hyderabad and in Sindh by Sadhu T.L. Vaswani. His idealism was to serve the suffered souls. After partition, in the year 1950, the Headquarter of Sadhu Vaswani Mission was shifted to Pune.

The Mira Movement in education was incepted in the year 1933 by Sadhu Vaswani. The movement centralized in Pune and was moved to other major cities of India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Baroda and Rajkot. The object of this mission was to educate all and the teachings combined the best of East and west. The other activities of the mission included education, promotion of Sindhi language, village improvement, medical relief, meatless day campaign. The educational institutes located in Pune are Shanti Vidya Mandir, St. Mira`s Bal Bhavan, St. Mira`s Primary School etc.

Connectivity of Sadhu Vaswani Ashram
Pune is well linked to the other parts of the country through railway, road and air. Pune is located about 180 kilometres away from Mumbai. The frequency of the State Government buses is good and they leave at every fifteen minutes and give service to and fro between Mumbai and Pune. The Asiad Bus service starts from Dadar, in Mumbai and takes 4-5 hours to reach Pune. Within the city of Pune, the best means of transport are the three wheelers, the auto rikshaws.
