Tantapani Cuvamikal

Tantapani Cuvamikal, alternatively known as Murukataca Cuvamikal or Murukkathaca Swamigal, was a well known and much venerated poet and scholar who existed in the 19th century in the Tamil country. He was a poet saint and was regarded as a Sanyasi or a hermit and lived as a recluse. Tantapani Cuvamikal or Murukataca Cuvamikal was a Sanyasi who composed a number of rhythmic poetical works in Tamil language such as Arunakirinatar. In the later periods the poet became popular and was known as Tiruppukalc Camiyar.

Tantapani Cuvamikal composed catakam, antati and kalampakam type of literary works that were devoted to Lord Kartikeya, known as Murugan or Murukan in Tamil. He also wrote a biography of Arunakirinatar as a puranam. Pulavar Puranam, composed by Tantapani Cuvamikal elaborately describes about the lives of poets combined with the tales related to their lives.
