Early life of Swati Piramal
Swati Piramal finished her MBBS Medical Degree from University of Bombay, 1980. She then completed DIM College of Physicians & Surgeons, from Industrial Medicine Bombay. Later on she went to Harvard, USA to finish her MPH Master of Public Health.

Career of Swati Piramal
As Director of Nicholas Piramal she looked after Research and Development, Strategic Alliances, Communication, Knowledge Management, Public Policy, responsible for starting and leading the team for Strategic Research Planning, Discovery Research, Chemical Process Development for discovering new Drug Delivery Systems, Clinical Research, Planning and Implementation of a new Clinical Research Organization.

Dr. Piramal also headed the task force for creating a new entry into Medical Services, to set up a national diagnostic network of pathology laboratories, to provide world-class diagnostic services to the consumer. She was also a member of the Committee set up by Shri Yashwant Sinha to transform India into a Knowledge Power.

Awards received by Swati Piramal
Dr. Piramal has received the Knight of the Order of Merit) in 2006, from the French President Mr. Jacques Chirac.

She has also received the BMA Management Woman Achiever of the Year Award (2004-05). She is also the recipient of the Lakshmipat Singhania-IIM, Lucknow National Leadership Award, in the category of Young Leader in the field of Science and Technology for the year 2006.

Dr. Piramal has received the Chemtech Pharma Award: for Outstanding Contributions in pharma and biotech Industries. She received the Rajiv Gandhi Award for Outstanding Woman Achiever by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in 2007.

She is the Vice President of Assocham 2008 and President Elect 2009. She is the first woman to be elected to that post.
