Surendran Nair (1956) paintings are at times considered surrealistic. His paintings are symbolic in nature. The relevance of myths in the present world is researched by him thereby depicted in his paintings. He draws his imagery from Indian and western mythologies. He has worked with water colors, printmaking and oils.
He was born in Kerala. He did his diploma in painting from the College of Fine Arts Trivandrum. He completed his post graduation from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.U., Baroda.
During the 1980s he worked in a realistic style creating strong pen, ink drawings, talented etchings and lithographs. His works were portraits that showed deep understanding. Thereafter he worked with oil on canvas. He was also known for giving long titles that he lends to his creations.
