Screen Awards for Best LyricistScreen Awards is one of the most celebrated award ceremonies of the country which commemorates the film personalities for their professional eminence under different categories. The film fraternity itself presents the awards and the winners and nominations are chosen by a panel of jury members. The award ceremony was initiated in the year 1994 and is held every year since then. Screen Awards is also accredited as the only award ceremony of India which has been graced by the Executive Director and the Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

20th Screen Awards
20th Screen Awards was organized on 14th January 2014 and was telecasted on 25th January 2014. The event honoured the best movies of the year 2013. This grand award ceremony was anchored by Shahrukh Khan. In the movies of 2013 several heart touching songs were featured in the films with amazingly appealing lyrics. This created a tough competition among the lyricists of Hindi film industry for Screen Awards for Best Lyricist. The nominations under this category included Amitabh Bhattacharya for `Balam Pichkari` (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Dr. Mahendra Madhukar for `Rooh Mein` (Club 60), Jaideep Sahni for `Dhoop Mein` (Shuddh Desi Romance), Prasoon Joshi for `Raghupati Raghav` (Satyagraha), Prasoon Joshi for `Zinda` (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag) and Swanand Kirkire for `Manja` (Kai Po Che!). The award was received by Swanand Kirkire.

Swanand Kirkire
Swanand Kirkire is a famed lyricists, playback singer, dialogue writer, assistant director and writer who works for both television and Hindi films. As a lyricist he has been the winner of National Film Award twice. He has penned a number of songs and has also bagged several other prestigious accolades.
