The central character of the story is suffering from a special kind of disease that is dyslexia. The main attraction of the film is a bubbly eight-year-old boy Ishaan Awasti who lives in a different world altogether, i.e. he sees the world differently.

Synopsis of film Taarein Zameen Par
The Indian movie `Taarein Zameen Par` is a wonderful movie for everyone who loves his or her kids and family. The film tries to include everyone living in the society no matter what the relation the viewer is exchanging like he or she is aunt or uncle or teacher or parent or just a friend. The central character of the film is Ishaan Awasti played by Darsheel Safary, whose acting is tremendously good. Ishaan is an eight-year-old boy who finds it difficult to match his world of colors, kites and animals to that of the others in his age group, who are more into studies and homework. He sees the world in a different way, always getting into fights and always faring badly in school. While his elder brother is a bright student, Ishaan has spent two years in the third standard and still he is not getting the things properly. He doesn`t know how to read or write. He can`t even do the sums. His activities were out of control when one day he comes out of the school and spends the whole day seeing the worldly things. Above all he managed an absent letter from his elder brother. When complaints start to pour in exacerbated by his naughty actions his father sends him off to a boarding school as a punishment. Already struggling with studies, Ishaan now has to deal with the pangs of separation. If earlier he would have painted the canvass bright with colours, now he does nothing of that sort. In school, he has gone from bad to worse, but no one seems to know the reason for his dilemma. The truth is, he is dyslexic. In short, Ishaan has a learning disorder marked by impairment of the ability to recognize and comprehend written words. In the boarding school the things were getting worse. He has one friend Rajan Damodaran played by Tanay Chheda. When everybody was against to him in the boarding school and in addition to that in one week his parents also do not come to see him, he becomes totally shattered. At that crises period Ram Shankar Nikumbh played by Aamir knan comes as a temporary drawing teacher to the school and also Ishaan`s mentor. Unlike other teachers who follow definite norms in educating children, Nikumbh sir makes them think out of books, outside the four walls of the classroom and paint their imaginations. Every child in class responds with immense enthusiasm except Ishaan. Ram takes effort to understand Ishaan and his problems. He makes Ishaan`s parents and other teachers realize that he is not abnormal but a very special child with talents of his own. With time, patience and care Ram succeeds in boosting the confidence level of Ishaan. He helps Ishaan in overcoming his inabilities and re-discovers his lost confidence.

Taarein Zameen Par , Indian MovieHe tackles the whole issue with Ishaan by befriending him and giving him back his self-confidence, and in the bargain winning himself a friend for life. Only Aamir sees his plight, that`s because he too was once dyslexic and now teaches in Tulips, a special school for the different children. Once Nikumbh Sir tells the students the story of Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci and Thomas Alva Edision, all great men, who suffered from the same malaise, is heartening. Aamir was telling the story in an interesting manner so that anyone will get the feel that he is talking about Ishaan but actually he was talking about himself i.e. Ram Shankar Nikumbh. This film wants to convey some messages to the parents who are always in competition looking for a winner, to all teachers to make education a fun process rather than a boring exercise where a student is burdened with the expectations of getting good grades. As for example in Ishaan`s case he just needs to score the pass marks as because his destiny is elsewhere.

The scene where Aamir visits Ishaan`s house and forces his father Nandakishore Awasthi played by Vipin Sharma to read letters written in Chinese on a toy box, he can`t read the line as he doesn`t know the language. Also, when the father visits his boy in school and sees the improvement and learns that he is at fault is gripping. He runs away as he can`t face his child. The scene where Ishaan wins the drawing competition and where he reluctantly comes ahead to receive his prize in front of the whole school will leave one moist-eyed. Ultimately his painting was published in the school yearbook where in the back page there was Ishaan`s picture drawn by Nikumbh sir. Tisca Chopra as Ishaan`s mother is a revelation, so also is Vipin Sharma. He portrays the behavior every working father wears on his sleeve. The bonding between Rohan Awasthi with his younger brother Ishaan has been captured well by the director. Also the friendship between Ishaan and Rajan Damodaran has widely expressed. Aamir has extracted excellent performances from these two kids. Darsheel Safary, for an eight-year-old gives off an excellent performance worthy of a standing ovation. This is one bright lad who has understood the character very well. Everything about Ishaan is perfect, from his body language; to the way he delivers his dialogues to the expression in his eyes, which shouts for help. Everything he did extra-ordinarily well.
