Srihari Nayak is a Chhau dance Guru of the Mayurbhanj style. He was born in Kanakpur, Orissa in 1934. He studied under gurus like Kandrababu, Padmacharan Bhanj, and Ananta Charan Sai, and later at the Uttarsahi Chhau Akhada at Baripada. In his early career, Nayak`s performances of Sabata Toka, Shiva and Vishnu made him popular all over the state, though he though he was expert in other performances as well. In later years, Srihari Nayak taught many students, especially as head of the Chhau department at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneshwar.
Srihari Nayak eventually joined the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi. In 1977, Nayak was honoured with the State Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Moreover, in the year 1988, he received the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his accomplishments in Chhau dance.
