Shri Kamakshi Sharada Temple managed by Shri Kodandashrama Mutt of Hebbur, is situated in Tumkur district of Karnataka.
It is believed that the place had a large population of Royal Bengal Tigers and hence came to be known as Hebbur. It is said that the Shri Chakra, which has a unique presence at the Mutt, was found in a well in the olden days by a devotee and was handed over to Sri Kodandaramashrama Swamiji, who got a temple constructed for the Sri Chakra.
The main deity of the temple is Goddess Kamakshi Sharadamba. The image of Goddess Kamakshi Sharada is a beautiful stone idol with intricate sculpture. Kamakshi Sharada with her four hands holds Pasha, Ankusha, Pustaka and Akshamala. This main deity is installed on a stone Sri Chakra Peetham on a square block consisting Pancha Pretasana or Pancha Brahma Manchasana like Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Rudra, Lord Ishwara and Lord Sadashiva).
The unique shape of Chakra or the wheel at the temple is known as the abode of Goddess Adi Parashakti. It is believed that this Sri charka to be more than 300 years old which is made in "Pancha loha" that is the five irons.
