Shorapur is a town in Yadgir district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Bonal Bird Sanctuary, one of the main attractions of this place, is located about 10 km from Shorapur.
As of 2001 Population Census in India, Shorapur had a population of 43,591. The males constitute 51 percent of the population and females 49 percent. Shorapur is well known or the Sri Venugopala Swami Temple. The famous temple Venugopal Swamy Temple is constructed in the year 1893 to 1726 on period Raja Pittambhra Bairi Pida Nayak. At that period the famous painting of Garudardhri of Nayak`s period and panting is participated in the London. Even today, all the disciplines offered their payer in the Tirumala Temple at Tirupati. This was happened from the contribution of then Surpur or Shorapur kings. They never visit the Tirumala temple, but a representative would be sent on their behalf. From 1703, the Bedar Kingdom (now Bedar District) rose and ruled it up to 1858, with the last king being Nalvadi Venkatappa Nayak.
