Sarvabajin is rarely popular among the locale though it is used in curing diseases.

Sarvabajin, Indian Medicinal PlantCaesulia axillaris Roxb is the scientific name of the Indian medicinal plant Sarvabajin. This plant is popular in the name of `Maka` among the people of Maharashtra and `Guttikuncha` among the people of Telegu mother tongue.

Sarvabajin is originated in India and is found in abundance in paddy fields. This medicinal plant is rarely known to the common people but is valued in Ayurveda for its medicinal properties. Sarvabajin is a glabrous, erect or recumbent herb that grows up to 15 cm to 45 cm in length. The leaves of this medicinal plant are 5cm to15 cm long, lanceolate oblong or narrowly lanceolate and semi amplexicaul. The flowers are pale blue in colour, lilac or white in globose and have compound heads. The fruits the plant bear are obovoid, dark brown in colour, ribbed and flattened.

Sarvabajin, the medicinal plant has some beneficial properties and the whole plant is considered to be of effective use in medicinal practice. The stem of the medicinal plant is sometimes taken as vegetable among many tribal people of India. The herb plant is crushed and applied to wounds to promote healing. The Baigas of northeastern Madhya Pradesh use the juice derived from the crushed whole herbaceous plant orally with yoghurt to treat amoebic dysentery, indigestion and loss of appetite .The tribal inhabitants of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa cook fresh young herb and take that cooked stem with rice.
