This plant is cultivated in Indian gardens as an ornamental plant. Sarahattika is also nurtured for its pungent leaves which are used in salads.

Sarahattika is a perennial herb which is closely related to Spilanthes calva. It is a robust and succulent plant. This Indian medicinal Plant yields larger flower heads. The leaves are triangular or triangular-ovate in shape. They become obtuse and attenuate below. All florets are reddish-brown in colour and the achenes are scabrid.
