Samadhi bhavanarthah klesa tanukaranarthasca

This is the second yogic sutra contained in the second phase of Patanjali Yoga Sutras.

The samadhi bhavanarthah klesa tanukaranarthasca sutra speaks about the ways in which one can be free from sufferings of the world and reach a state of absolute samadhi. However, if one is successful in lessening the distresses, he can practice kriyayoga to hasten the process of samadhi. Through profound meditation, one can be free from the obstacles to meditation.

The practice of yoga reduces afflictions and leads to samadhi.

By reducing afflictions to a minimum or even exterminating them, kriyayoga promotes unsounded meditation, which is a harbinger of samadhi. The purpose of this yoga is to minimise all hindrances to meditation and hence bring the intelligence to full, pulsating life.
