Ruby Bhatia was born on November 1, 1973, in a Punjabi family to the parents Harbans and Premlata Bhatia, based in Canada. Her uncle and aunt, Prem Krishan and Saroj Bhatia, adopted her at the age of 3 and she was brought up in a small town in Ajax, Ontario. She learned ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance from The Royal Academy of Dance, in Toronto. At the tender age of 19 she was crowned the title of Miss India-Canada 1993 and immediately flew down to Mumbai to pursue a prolific career in media and entertainment. Upon arrival in the city of dreams, this professionally trained dancer was spotted and picked up by Star TV to become a full-time anchor-person on its revolutionary music channel, Channel [V].

However in her personal life Ruby Bhatia is a very happy and contented individual. Giving back to society is something what she lives for. Ruby Bhatia was a founding member of The Crusade Against Tobacco, a celebrity movement propagating the ill effects of tobacco. Presently she is a trustee of CHIP (Children in Pain), which is an NGO aiming at the provision of basic education and healthcare to underprivileged women and children. Ruby got married to Ajit Dutta.
