Rayagiri is located in Tirunelveli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a panchayat town located at a distance of 86 km from Madurai. It is almost 88 km from Tirunelveli towards north. The Madurai - chengottai Highway is located 3 km away from the town. Rajapalayam. Sankaran Kovil and Puliangudi are some of the cities located near to Rayagiri. There are many temples located in Rayagiri visited by devotees. Some of the temples here are Mariamman, Kaliamman, Gangaiamman Kovil, Karuppasamy, Madasamy, Murugan, Iyyappan, Muniandi and Esakki. Many Vinayagar temples are also located here. A church adorned with a tall tower can also be seen in middle of the town. The town celebrates many festivals here on a grand scale. The festival of Purattachi is celebrated here during the Tamil Month in Kaliamman, Mariamman and Gangaiamman Kovil temples. The festival of Diwali and Pongal is also celebrated with much enthusiasm.
