Rashami Desai is an Indian television actress. She has worked in a number of serials but is best remembered for essaying the role of Tapasya Thakur in the television serial Uttaran which aired on Colors. She has also acted in Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Manipuri and Bhojpuri movies. Her works in the television industry bagged her many awards including Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award in the category of Best Television Actress. Rashmi is a trained Kathak and Bharatnatyam dancer.

She was born on 4 August 1986 in Nagaon, Assam, India in a Gujarati family. Her earlier name was Divya Desai. She received her school education from Ulubari High School.
Career of Rashami Desai
Desai started her career at an early age. She got her first break in 2006 in Ravan on Zee TV where she essayed the role of Mandodari. Next in 2008, she enacted the role of Nikki/Pari in the serial Pari Hoon Main which aired on Star One followed by Meet Mila De Rabba on Sony TV and started acting in the show Uttaran on Colors since 2009. However, she opted out of the show Uttaran in March 2012 reasoning that she didn`t believe she could portray an older role after the leap. She returned to Uttaran on 7 November 2012. She has also appeared in episodes for Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Hai. She has also appeared in several reality shows like Comedy Circus 3, Nautanki - The Comedy Theatre, Comedy Nights with Kapil, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (season 6), Farah Ki Dawat and Nach Baliye 7.

Rashami tied the knot with her co-star from Uttaran, Nandish Sandhu on 12th February 2012 in Dholpur. In 2013, Rashami became pregnant but suffered from a miscarriage and this issue started creating problems in their lives. The couple started staying separately since 2014 but later patched up in and started staying together since 2015.
