Over the years having grown in popularity, the Ramkrishna Beach is one of the famous beaches in Visakhapatnam, which gets its name from the Ramkrishna Mission ashram located across the Beach Road from the park. Among the locals of the area, the Ramkrishna Beach is commonly known as RK beach and was jointly developed by the Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam (MCV) and the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA).
The Ramkrishna Beach is a spectacularly long beach and is known to be one of the prime attractions of Vizag city. It is best known for the INS Kursura Submarine Museum, which preserves the Kalvari class submarine. The war memorial called "Victory at Sea" at the shore of the beach was constructed as homage to soldiers of the 1971 war. Other than this, there is an aquarium, a Kali temple and the Visakha Museum, which attracts large number of tourists. The beach offers various kinds of water activities to the tourists like deep sea angling, which is carried on traditional fishing boats, and wind as well as water surfing, beach volleyball along-with sunbathing. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism also offers the facility of boating from the fishing harbour to the beach. The Ramkrishna Beach is not safe for swimming and various incidents of drowning are reported in a year.
The beach is a reminiscent of the Dutch settlements with its numerous cemeteries and ports located along the beach. The presence of Dutch settlements is very much evident from the cave paintings that have been excavated from the region. These caves are famous for their natural stalagmite formation and are a major tourist attraction. Then there is the ancient temple dating back to the 11th century, which is dedicated to Lord Narasimhan is also located in this region. During the festive occasion the temple attracts throngs of tourists. The significant festival of the Ramakrishna Beach includes the Rishikonda Beach Festival and the Vishakha Utsav, which is the annual festival of the district. Andhra University conducts special research projects at the beach to save the Sea Tortoises during their breeding seasons.

The Ramkrishna Beach is located at a distance of 4 km from the Vizag Railway Station. The Visakhapatnam International Airport is at a distance of 15 km from the beach.
