Raja Bhagawant Das, a Kachhwaha ruler of Amber, later known as Jaipur was born on January 27, 1574 to Raja Biharimal or Bharmal as his eldest son and succeeded him after his death. Raja Bhagawant Das was a general of Mughal emperor Akbar, who awarded him a mansab rank of 5000 in 1585 and bestowed him with the title of Amir-ul-Umra.
Raja Bhagawant Das fought many battles for Akbar including battles in Punjab, Kashmir and Afghanistan. Raja Bhagawant Das had also been a governor of Kabul. He married his daughter to Prince Salim, who later assumed throne as Emperor Jahangir. Raja Bhagawant Das was succeeded by his son Raja Man Singh I after his death.
