Purple Convolvulus harbours the botanical name Convolvulaceae Argyreia cuneata (Willd.) Ker-Gawler. This plant is commonly identified in different names in different regions as it is known by the name of `Achhegide` in Kannada and `Bondwail` or `Mahulungi` in Marathi.

Purple Convolvulus, Indian Medicinal Plant Purple Convolvulus generally grows in the upper hills of peninsular India between 950 metre and 1400 metre. This plant is cultivated in gardens from Maharashtra southwards.

Purple Convolvulus is a climbing or shrubby plant which matures and grows up to about 1.5 metre tall. Leaves are elliptic or obovate, obtuse and sometimes emarginate. The leaves are 3.6 cm to 10 cm long and 0.9cm to 4.2 cm wide, short petioled and hairy beneath. Flowers are deep bright purple in colour and they borne in axillary. Fruits are ellipsoid, grows yellow brown when they get ripe and about 2.7 cm long.

Purple Convolvulus is used among the Gonds of Uttar Pradesh for the treatment of arthritis. Sometimes extract of the root of the plant is used to cure diseases.
