Psilotum Nudum

Psilotum nudum is a non flowering plant. It lacks roots and has evolved from a fern ancestor.

Psilotum NudumPsilotum Nudum is found in Western Ghats, Central India and northeast India. It is considered a primitive plant. The name means "Bare naked" in Latin as it does not have most of the organs of modern plants. Psilotum nudum was seldom used as a small broom by tying the branches together.

Single sporangium is seen on leaf like lateral appendages. This plant is propagated by spores. Spores require a year to germinate and they must be kept in dark.
