Priya Anand, Indian ActressPriya Anand is an Indian film actress and model who predominantly appears in South Indian films. Fluent in seven languages, she made her debut in the Hindi film industry under the directorial venture of Gauri Shinde"s `English Vinglish`.

Early Life of Priya Anand
Priya Anand was born on 17th September, 1986 in Chennai, in the state of Tamil Nadu to a Tamil father Bharadwaj Anand and a half Telugu, half Marathi mother Radha. Priya was brought up both in Chennai and Hyderabad becoming fluent in Tamil and Telugu. She is also proficient in English, Bengali, Hindi, Marathi and Spanish languages.


Education of Priya Anand
After receiving her basic education in India, Priya Anand moved to the United States to pursue her higher studies. There she studied Communications and Journalism at SUNY Albany. After earning the degree, she returned to India in the year 2008.

Career of Priya Anand
Priya Anand started her career with modelling, and appeared in various television advertisements like "Nutrine Maha Lacto", "Prince Jewellery" and "Cadbury Dairy Milk" etc. She was subsequently receiving acting offers from directors, who had seen her television commercials.

She made her acting debut in 2009 with the Tamil action-thriller "Vaamanan", directed by newcomer Ahmed. The film saw her essaying the character of Divya, a simple girl next door. The film created some anticipation before its release, mainly due to its hit music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, which enabled a big opening. However, it fared only averagely at the Chennai box office.

In 2010, she appeared in three films. The first was "Pugaippadam", a college-life based drama revolving around the friendship between seven students. Here, Anand portrayed the character of one of the students named Shiney George. The film received mixed reviews and was commercially unsuccessful.

Her second film of the year was Sekhar Kammula directed "Leader" which was a political drama. In the movie, she enacted the character of a television channel reporter and friend to a young man, who would later go on to become a political leader. The film earned positive reviews and became a critical success. Although Anand had a small role, her performance garnered overwhelming response.

Her third 2010 release was "Rama Rama Krishna Krishna" in which she was seen playing the love interest of the film`s hero.

In 2011, she worked in the bilingual Tamil-Telugu project named "180".

In 2012, she made her debut in Bollywood with "English Vinglish" produced by R. Balki. The film provided her an opportunity to share screen space with the late Sridevi, who Anand admires and considers her idol.

Her 2013 Bollywood releases were "Fukrey" and "Rangrezz".
