Prithvisena

Rudra Sena I was succeeded by his son Prithvisena I. Vakataka inscription refer him as a good characterized and a gentle kind. His reign was a period of peace and prosperity of the Vakatakas.

Nehana and Ganjam inscriptions indicate that in Bundelkhanda this Samanta Vyaghradeva was ruling. Some scholars are of the view that Vyaghradeva was under Prithivi Sena II and not Vrithivisena I. But this view does not seem to be correct. Some scholars try to identify Vyaghrasen with the Vyaghraj mentioned in the Allahabad Prasasti because Vyaghradeva ruled in Aryavarta Bundelkhand whereas Vyaghrarya was a king of Dakshinapatha.

Chandra Gupta II was ruling in the northern India and had a plan to attack the Sakas of the west. The Vakataka could be very useful in his plan. Therefore, to establish good relation with the Vakatakas he married his daughter Prabhavati with Rudra Sena II. He was the son of Vakataka king Prithvisena.

The rule of Prithvisena came to an end by about 385 A.D.
