Princely State of Beja was a feudatory state from 18th century to 15th April 1948, which in present days came under the administration of the state of Himachal Pradesh. It was ruled by a branch of Tomara Dynasty with the title of Thakur. Beja is located just below Kasauli to the west and was surrounded by other princely states namely Mahlog, Patiala State, Kuthar State and the Bharauli tract of Shimla District. It was a small state with 45 villages. Beja is one of the original constituent members of the Chamber of Princes, a number of smaller states indirectly represented by 12 princes whom they periodically elected. Fort of Beja Princely State is the finest example of architecture in the state.
