Her transition from Indian television to films has been one of the most successful one. Prachi Desai has not only carved a distinct niche for herself in the celluloid but has also bagged a number of prestigious awards in the entertainment arena.

Early Life of Prachi Desai
Prachi Desai was born on 12th September 1988 in the Indian state of Gujarat. She studied in St. Joseph Convent, Panchgani and completed her schooling in Surat. Later she moved to Pune for higher studies and attended Sinhagad College, Vadgaon, Pune. She had barely managed to complete her junior college when she got a call from the Balaji Production house for auditioning for the role of `Bani` in the then to-be-launched soap Kasamh Se.

Career of Prachi Desai
Prachi Desai started her journey and catapulted to fame with the Balaji show Kasamh Se which was aired on Zee Television. Her strong willed character in the serial became the role model for many teenage girls. For a while Prachi Desai also made a brief appearance in another popular Balaji soap Kasauti Zindagi Kay in which she did a cameo as a school student. In 2007 she entered the celebrity dance show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa as the youngest participant of the show and was placed first in the contest. She was awarded the dancing star of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2. She was also a part of another dance show titled Yeh Hai Jalwa.

Prachi was soon selected for the big screen and she made her debut in Bollywood with the movie Rock On! where she played the wife of Farhan Akhtar. The movie was a blockbuster hit and her acting skills were well noticed. She next starred in Life Partner with Govinda, Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D`Souza. In 2010 she appeared in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai co-starring with Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi and Kangna Ranaut. In the year 2012 she made a cameo appearance in the film Teri Meri Kahaani. Bol Bachchan was her next venture in the same year in which she featured alongside Abhishek Bachchan. The film turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office and Prachi`s performance was lauded by the critics. In the following year she acted in I, Me Aur Main and Policegiri which were not much successful. In 2014 Prachi Desai made a special appearance in the Bollywood flick Ek Villain in the item song `Awari`.

Achievements of Prachi Desai
Prachi with her commendable performances in both the small screen and the big screen has won many awards. She won the Indian Telly Awards 2006 for the Best Couple of the Year with her co-star Ram Kapoor. In the same year she also won the Fresh New Face of the Year for the serial Kasamh Se. The Sansui Television Awards gave her the Best Actress Award and the Most Popular Actress Award for her portrayal as Bani Walia in Kasamh Se. The Global Indian TV Honours also bestowed on her the Best Actress Award for the serial in 2008. In 2011 she got the Zee Cine Awards, Lions Gold Awards, Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards and the Stardust Awards in the Best Actress category in a Supporting Role (Female) for Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.
