Peer Mohammed Dargah

Peer Mohammed Appa Dargah in Kanyakumari in the state of Tamil Nadu is dedicated to Sufi saint Peer Mohammed Sahib.

Peer Mohammed Dargah, Tamil NaduPeer Mohammed Appa Dargah is one of the popular Sufi pilgrim centers located in Kanyakumari of Tamil Nadu. The dargah is located in Thuckalay and is dedicated to Sufi saint Peer Mohammed Sahib, who was a Tamil poet and Philosopher. The anniversary of this great Sufi saint is celebrated every year in the Arabic month of Rajab. People from Kerala and Tamil Nadu visit the dargah during this festival. This festival day has been declared as a local holiday by the State Government for the whole District of Kanyakumari.

History of Peer Mohammed Sahib
Peer Mohammed Sahib was born in Tenkasi of Tirunelveli District. The Sufi saint also wrote many books on Philosophy. He had close relations with the kings of Chera Dynasty. It is believed that Peer Mohammed laid the foundation stone of the Padmanabhapuram Granite Fort.
