Wardha Peace Pagoda is one of the pagodas, which were erected all over the world by the Buddhist monks for the sake of love and happiness among people. The pagoda is located in Wardha, Maharashtra near Gitai Mandir. It was constructed according to the teachings of Saddharma Pundarika Sutra to create love, peace and happiness among all the people of the world. Wardha World Peace Pagoda was completed in the year 1969; later renovations were done in 1993.
History of World Peace Pagoda
The Peace Pagodas have been built by the Nipponzan-Myohoji Buddhist Order. The founder of this organization was Nichidatsu Fujii, a Buddhist monk from Japan. He was greatly inspired meeting Mahatma Gandhi in 1931 and decided to devote his life in promoting non-violence all over the world. In 1947, he began constructing Peace Pagodas as shrines for the sake of world peace.
Shrines and Structure of Wardha Peace Pagoda
Wardha Peace Pagoda is a large stupa of white color. It has statues of the Buddha, which are mounted on the stupa in four directions. The pagoda also has a small Japanese Buddhist temple with a large park. There is a temple near the pagoda where prayers are done for universal peace.

Wardha Junction railway station and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International airport are the nearest to this pagoda. Wardha Peace Pagoda can also be reached by road via National Highway 16.
