Nikhil DNikhil D`Souza is a prominent playback singer of India who works for Bollywood as well as his music band. He has also gained recognition as a song writer and guitarist. He is also accredited as the South Asia Soloist Winner at SUTASI `09. He stepped into the Indian film industry with the songs of Bollywood flick Aisha. He specializes in pop or alternative musical genres with folk influences. His songs possess strong musical quality with alternate tunings. His works have great influences of Damien Rice, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Sting and others. He gives much emphasis on lyrics and strong vocal melodies along with unconventional yet skilled guitar work and exceptional music arrangements.

Early Life of Nikhil D`Souza
Nikhil D`Souza was born on 21st November 1981 in Mumbai. He completed his higher education from St. Xavier`s College, Mumbai in Geology. During his college days he was also involved with a band named `Mr. John`s Banned`. The band had performed at Independence Rock in 2000 and earned much appreciation and success in Mumbai circuit. Later he worked as a composer, guitarist and backup singer for an independent singer, Lima Yanger. During this phase he made another band with a couple of musicians with the name `Sleeping Buddha`. In the year 2001 the band released an album called `Empty Screen` along with Times Music.

Career of Nikhil D`Souza
The first solo performance of Nikhil was in Thespo Festival at the Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai in the year 2007, November. During mid 2008, he launched his solo act called `Nik Frey` which mainly encompassed his original compositions. In 2008 the acquaintance of Nikhil D`Souza with the reputed drummer Adrian D`souza in Mumbai led to the formation of another band called `KNAP` along with Pozy Dhar (guitar) and Kenneth Rebello (bass). Nikhil D They performed at a number of shows at major cities like Pune and Bengaluru. In 2008 Nikhil was amongst a few solo artists who represented India at the regional finals of a talent search for Asian music called `Sutasi` that was featured in the November issue of Rolling Stones India magazine. After succeeding in the regional finals he reached the grand finals which were aired across Asia.

One of his songs was also reviewed by Rolling Stones music magazine in the 2009 January issue and he was featured in the "Artists to watch" in the December 2009 issue and also in a comparable article in Jan 2010 in Verve. In India Today, he was featured in "Faces of the Future". The year 2009 proved quite good for his musical career with his solo performances at the `One Movement for Music` festival held in Australia in October. He received much appreciation in the event. Nikhil D`Souza has earned substantial success in Indie-Mainstream crossover and has established himself as one of the most appealing singers with a distinct and instantly recognizable voice. He has sung for a number of films as well as advertisements. He made his debut in Bollywood with the movie Aisha in which he sung the song `Shaam`. Subsequently he lent his voice in many other movies and his songs such as `Mere Bina` from Crook, `Gubbare Gubbare` from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, `Jannatein Kahan` from Jannat 2, `Tere Naam` from Cocktail, `Jaata Hai Tujh Tak` from Murder 3, `Har Kisi Ko` from Boss and many others went on to become chartbusters. Apart from Bollywood he has also sung for the Bengali film industry. Even after entering the mainstream Bollywood Nikhil D`Souza still performs at various musical concerts along with his band where he sings his original compositions. In September 2011 he won the second place at the Crimea Music Fest in Ukraine which included contestants from all around the globe.
