Nihalchand Chauhan is an Indian politician and the youngest Member of Parliament in India from Ganganagar is now in the cabinet of Narendra Modi in 16th Lok Sabha.
Early Life of Nihalchand Chauhan
Nihalchand Chauhan was born on 4th February 1971. From the very childhood, he entered in Indian politics. For this reason, he joined with Bharatiya Janata Party and served with diligence. For his determination and hard working skills, Nihalchand Chauhan became the member of 16th Lok Sabha in Indian Parliament.
Nihalchand Chauhan completed his graduation from a Rai Singh Nagar College. He belongs to the Meghwal community. Nihalchand Chauhan entered in regional politics of Rajasthan following the footsteps of his father Bega Ram, who was a parliamentarian and represented the Bharatiya Lok Dal. His family is involved in social work in the Ganganagar region of Rajasthan.
Political Career of Nihalchand Chauhan
Nihalchand Chauhan chose the path shown by his father. He made his debut in active regional politics in the year1995 after being elected as Pradhan (Head) of Raisinghnagar Panchayat Samiti. This was the first step of Nihalchand Chauhan to come in the regional political system of Rajasthan, especially in Ganganagar.
Nihalchand Chauhan was the fourth term Member of Parliament (MP) in the 16th Lok Sabha. In the 2014 Indian General Elections, conducted by Election Commission of India, Nihalchand Chauhan defeated the former Cabinet Minister of United Progressive Alliance government headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh and candidate of Indian National Congress Master Bhanwar Lal Meghwal with a margin of more than 2.91 lakh votes. Nihalchand Chauhan, the first elected Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha, after he turned 25 years. He was re-elected in the 1999 and 2004 Indian general elections conducted by the Election Commission of India. He contested in the 1997 and 2009 Indian general elections also, but lost both times.
In 12th Lok Sabha General Election, he defeated Shankar Pannu, a candidate from Indian National Congress. Nihalchand was elected MP for second time. In the 14th Parliamentary Elections of India too he defeated his nearest rival Indian National Congress candidate Bharatram Meghwal and earned glory of becoming MP for the third time. However, in the 15th Lok Sabha once gain he saw the defeat when Bharatram Meghwal defeated him.
The parliamentarian, Nihalchand Chauhan has a keen interest in Indian traditional sports like Kabaddi and Hockey in particular. Previously, Nihalchand Chauhan has been a member of several Lok Sabha Committees, including science and technology, agriculture, health and family welfare.
