The female protagonist of the serial with a difference titled as `Mamta`, Neha Mehta has already made a deep impact in the hearts of the small screen viewers by the character portrayal of a young surrogate mother. She is a small town girl hailing from a armed force background. She had never thought of acting and has been in the tinsel town for few years to carve out a niche for herself by giving some powerhouse performances. Within a very short time she has also managed to bag diverse roles in popular soaps like `Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand`, `Ayushmaan` before she bagged the role in `Mamta` with which she came to the arclight. In the serial `Ayushmaan` she played the character of a teenage bubbly and vivacious young doctor. In the serial `Mamta` again her role changed tremendously. She was seen playing a completely different character and is not being the `sissy baby` or ` poor thing` which she claims gets monotonous very soon. She is now more interested in playing characters with a marked difference.
Neha Mehta claims that she accepted this role because it offered her to do something, which she has never done before. In this serial she essays the character of an eighteen or nineteen year old girl who is brought up in a small town and takes up the proposal of being a surrogate mother because she wants to treat her father who is suffering from a particular illness. But the sudden death of her father changes her life completely as she is asked to abort the child. She refuses to do so and decides to give the child to a couple who is childless. Much later she comes to know that the child is alive and his life is in danger. It is from here that the journey of her life takes on in the big bad world. She tries to uphold her culture and tradition imbibed in her by her father. She manages to overcome all the hardship.
Neha Mehta claims that the character of Mamta has a lot for her to do. She was also very happy with the environment she worked in and there were a lot of twists and turns waiting to be unfolded. She claims that initially she was very happy with the way the show was proceeding, as there are no crap and repetitive things involved in the show. She also asserts that this is the only fact that holds its own against all rivals. However Neha Mehta did not agree to work in the soap in the post-leap period, as she was not comfortable in playing the mother of a 20-year old. In her personal life however Neha Mehta is however a quite chilled out person. She puts up at Malad Link Road and loves her neighborhood for its peace and tranquility. At present this brilliant actress is not taking up any other offers, as she would be busy spending her holidays in Europe. But in future she would like to work very hard to meet up with the expectations of her fans. However it is obvious that there will be many more in the days to come from this brilliant actress and her fans are with her wholeheartedly in the journey of her success.
