The first image that comes in mind while one speaks of Goa is sea beaches with aquamarine expanse of the Arabian Sea, yellow grains of sand and shades of palm trees. Its coastline is strung along it like a lace frill on the edge of a colorful skirt. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are located here.
An unbroken 7 kilometers crescent of sun-drenched sand marks the twin beaches of Candolim and Calangute, north of Panjim and the Aguada headland. The tourists can walk along the crumbly sands towards the gold-speckled silken sheet of an early morning ocean.
Farther north, past estuaries of the many streams, are a series of secluded beaches. the travelers can enjoy the unspoilt beauty of Anjuna, beneath the soaring backdrop of Chapora Fort and the many hidden coves and creeks awaiting explored by the enthusiastic and adventurous travelers.
As far as the beaches in Southern coast are concerned a raw beauty characterizes them. While Siridao, near the Zuari estuary, is a shell-collector`s haven with its assortment of oyster and mother-of-pearl shells, it is Colva, with its broad brow of silver-grey, powder-fine sand that has been the inspiration for many folk tales and songs.
A drive south from Margao through heavily wooded teak plantations and deep green ravines will lead the travelers to Betul village where a varied and almost inexhaustible supply of seafood, including some of Goa`s largest mussels, is available. Accessible only by boat from Betul and the remoteness of the picturesque Betul beach will completely enamor the tourists.
The wildlife sanctuaries in Goa comprise of Bhagvan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary and Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
