Nagin Lake also known as the Nigeen Lake is a mildly eutrophic lake located in the city of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The lake is located at the southern end of the Dal Lake and is connected to it via a narrow strait. It is also connected to the freshwater lake of Gil Sar and Khushal Sar via a channel known as Nallah Amir Khan.
The lake stretches for about 2.7 km and has a surface elevation of about 1,582 feet. It is located to the east of the city of Srinagar, at the foothill of the Zabarwan Mountain. The Shankaracharya Hill on the south and Hari Parbat hillock on the west enclose the Nagin Lake and offers a breathtaking view to the visitors. The lake is flanked by beautiful willow and poplar trees. Hence, the Nagin Lake has come to be referred as a "nageena", which means "the jewel in the ring".
The Nagin Lake is known for its pristine clear waters and is a major tourist attraction in Srinagar. Due to its secluded location and being less crowded than the Dal Lake, this lake has a serene atmosphere and exudes tranquillity. Houseboats and shikharas are a usual sight on this lake. But like all the other water bodies in the Kashmir Valley, this lake also suffers from encroachments which are deteriorating its water quality and also increasing the risk of floods. Currently, the government is engaged in taking steps to help improve the condition of the lake and restore it to its original glory.

The Jammu Airport is at a distance of 272 km from the Nagin Lake and via roadways this lake is almost 8 km away from the Dal Lake.
