Mount Harriet

Mount Harriet has been a major sight during the colonial period. Owing to its attractive scenic beauty, this place was converted into the summer headquarters of the British Government.

Etymology of Mount Harriet
The peak is named after Harriet Tytler, the second wife of Robert Christopher Tytler, a British soldier, naturalist and photographer. He was appointed officiating Superintendent of the Convict Settlement at Port Blair in the Andamans from April 1862 to February 1864.

Attractions of Mount Harriet
Surrounded with some of the exotic gardens, this place provides great opportunity for the visitors for an unforgettable long walk along the trail. This is an ideal spot for trekking which has been developed by the Government of Andaman and Nicobar Island. Mount Harriet also witnesses some of the most picturesque gardens of the Island which include variety of birds, animals and butterflies that fly around the area. Surrounded with some major view points and places of elevation this provides some of the most attractive sites of the island which can be easily visited by the tourists of Andaman and Nicobar islands.

Connectivity of Mount Harriet
Mount Harriet can be reached via a dunghi to bamboo flat or one can take a road via Ferrargunj. It is better to enjoy the beauty of Mount Harriet during the day and come back by the evening.
