Introduction
Sahaja Yoga is a way of special meditation based on the experience of Self Realization or Kundalini awakening which might occur within the human body. Shri Mataji advocates that self-realization is the highest achievement of human being. Through Sahaja Yoga, an inner transformation takes place in human being, which helps one to become moral, united, balanced and integrated. Sahaja Yoga is the way to arouse divine power as the cool breeze. This power inherits the spiritual tradition of the world.
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi : Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi introduced "Sahaja Yoga" in 1970 among the commoners in India as well as abroad. She is an erudite woman who took active part in the freedom movements of India. Shri Mataji possessed spiritual power from her very childhood but she adopted the path of spiritual mission only after fulfilling her familial duties. Mataji rediscovered the ancient art of Sahaja Yoga, which brought her worldwide recognition.
Concept of Sahaja Yoga
Sahaja Yoga is a method of meditation, which brings human awareness. Shri Nirmala Devi Mataji created the concept of Sahaja Yoga in 1970 and after this it was spread all around the world.
Shri Mataji says that global unity of human being can be achieved through the awakening through SahajaYoga so that transformation takes place within the mankind. By the process of Sahaja Yoga the person becomes moral, united, integrated and balanced. One actually experiences the feeling of all-pervading divine power. To know oneself is the main theme of all the yogic methods and it becomes evident when one reaches the absolute understanding of oneself.
The Sahaja Yoga is the way to make one peaceful and joyous in life. One starts to collect the drops of compassion from the universe. This method works for the multitudes and is not active individually. Not only that one also experiences divine love. This is the last breakthrough of the transformation of human being. The method of Sahaja yoga is proved worldwide and is popular in many countries.
The inner awakening is known by many names: self-realization, second birth, enlightenment, liberation, moksha, satori etc. Sahaja Yoga is the goal of all the religions and spiritual tradition of the world. The knowledge of Sahaja Yoga was ancient but for a long time it was known only to a few and was kept secret and only transmitted from the Guru to disciple.
Self-realization is extremely difficult to achieve. In this modern time the Sahaja yoga is similar to spontaneous union with one`s self. The experience is effortless and available to everyone by the effort of Nirmala Mataji.
The Sahaja yoga was very common in many of the world`s spiritual traditions and religions long time ago. Through the practice of Sahaja Yoga, one gains new awareness in a new dimension where the absolute truth can be felt tangibly on our central nervous system. As a result of practicing Sahaja Yoga our spiritual nature reaches its highest peak and physical, mental and emotional balance are also achieved.
One can then realize that the body, mind, ego, emotions or intellect are not the reality but the self-spirit is the only eternal and real thing that resides in our heart. This spirit is the source of true knowledge, peace and joy. Self-realization is the actual connection with our spirit. Shri Mataji advocates that self-realization is the brightest of every human being, which can be brought through the part of Sahaja Yoga.
Method of Sahaja Yoga
Sahaja Yoga is the self-realization process, which can be achieved very easily as directed by Shri Nirmala Mataji.
During the experience of Sahaja Yoga one must keep the palm of the left hand upwards and at the same time place the right palm on the various part of the body on the left side, while keeping the eyes closed for the entire time. This is the way how one can be free of distractions and able to concentrate the attention. One might also take off shoes as mother earth sucks all the negativity through our feet.
After the end of the meditation one feels relaxed and thoughts slow down. This is the first stage of meditation, thoughtless awareness, where one is fully alert but without any thoughts. Thus one achieves the state of pure and peaceful consciousness.
Now,one can feel a sensation of a gentle cool breeze in the palms and above head after the Sahaja Yoga. But one might feel warm in the beginning, which indicates that kundalini energy is awakening and purifying the charkas, but it will eventually cool down. One can verify it by placing the left palm 6-12 inches above the head and then trying with the right palm. Thus Sahaja Yoga is an easy method to achieve.
