Mehr was born into a Parsi family on 30th November 1970. She studied at J.B.Vachha School, Mumbai and she always had great interest in sports and enjoyed swimming, badminton and other sports before she became a model.

Mehr Jesia started her career in 1980 and in 1986; she won Femina Miss India and went on to represent India at the Miss Universe 1986 pageant in Panama City. When she was 24 at the peak of her modelling career she got an offer in London. She landed her first ad campaign with Lakme. Post Lakme time she was signed up by Vimal, Bombay Dyeing, OCM, Nivea, Palmolive, Gleem, Forhans, Philips and Campa Cola. However her success was an amalgamation of various factors and she provided each the thanks that they deserved. Makeup artist Mickey Contractor owed her success and the way her career shaped up.
