Man Mandir Ghat

Located to the north of Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of the Ganga River, the Man Mandir Ghat is an enormously aesthetic ghat in Varanasi that attracts tourists from all over. It was earlier known as Someswara Ghat and was built in 16th century CE by Raja Man Singh of Amer, who had also built a palace here.

The Man Mandir palace is a blend of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles and is known for its exquisite ornate window carvings. A popular feature of this palace is the observatory called Jantar Mantar, which was built atop the mansion in 1710 CE by Sawwai Jai Singh II. From the north east balcony of the Man Mandir Palace, one can get a panoramic view of the ghat below. Another important aspect of the Man Mandir Ghat is that it is also dotted with several Hindu temples including Rameshwara Temple, Sthuladanta Vinayak Temple and Someshwara Temple.
