Kiran Comics
Kiran Comics was a Indian comics magazine that was published by Kiran Publications and distributed by India Book House (IBH) during the late 1980s.
Kiran Comics was distributed by the India Book House Magazine Company. It printed some of the most popular international characters like Tarzan, Tarzan`s Son Korak (both created by Edgar Rice Burroughs) and Laurel and Hardy.
This policy was adopted by most Indian comics publishers as there was a dearth of original Indian characters. Eventually Manoj Comics and Diamond Comics created original characters with Indian backgrounds which led to the development of the authentic Indian comics. Comics readers in India were more attracted to these new and original Indian characters and thus all the comics publishers that released international characters were faced with declining demands. Moreover, they failed to improve the quality of the stories and artworks and were thus no match for the new competitors in the field. As a result, Kiran Comics also was compelled to shut down due to these reasons.
